WHAT IS THE INTRAMURAL OPEN?
The Intramural Open is an in-house friendly competition that coincides with the official CrossFit Open each year.
Annually, there is a worldwide event known as the CrossFit Open which athletes all over compete in at a variety of levels. Three workouts are posted during three consecutive weeks of February / March that CrossFit gyms across the world will all be participating in! These workouts are shared each Thursday evening, and athletes have until the following Monday to complete the workout and post their scores. So that’s a light description of the CrossFit Open….but the Intramural Open is a little different…
Myriad will program each of the CrossFit Open workouts on the following Fridays: February 28th, March 7th, and March 14th. These workouts will be titled 25.1, 25.2 and 25.3 respectively. Coming to class these days is just one way to participate in the Intramural Open.
Every CrossFit Member will be drafted to a Team led by a Team Captain. Throughout the weeks of the Open, your Team will have a variety of ways to participate and earn points for your Team. It is up to you how much you choose to participate, but at the very least, by attending class on the Fridays listed above, you automatically earn points for your Team!
There will be a final fun workout on Saturday, March 22nd to close out the Intramural Open, known as 25.FUN! Teams will compete against one another in a series of silly workouts — think Team games, partner participation, etc. At the end of the day, we tally up final points and announce the overall winner for the Intramural Open.
The goal for the Intramural Open is to have a 4-week competition and opportunity to build community, challenge yourself in workouts, give back to charity, and add some extra fun to your regular fitness routine!
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Participation is easy, all you have to do at minimum is come to workout on the following Fridays: February 28th, March 7th and March 14th. You are automatically drafted to a Team, and your class check-in will be counted towards your Team’s overall points.
To find out which Team you are on, check the large whiteboard in the lobby at the gym. Your Team Captain will email you weekly to help remind you to show up, and share other ways to participate and earn points.
While the minimum is simply showing up to workout, if you really want to have fun, we encourage you to participate in as many ways as possible! Read on to learn about the many ways you can help earn points for your Team…
HOW TO EARN POINTS:
TEAM SPIRIT – Points will be awarded for enthusiasm, team spirit and comaradery!
- Participation in team color days – 3 points
- Dress in your Team color on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 22nd for points!
- Participation in crazy socks day- 3 points
- Wear your crazy socks to the gym on Friday, March 14th for points!
- Best team name – 3 points
- Best team mascot – 3 points
- Inspiring team spirit / cheerleading / performance (Judge’s choice) – 5 points
OPEN WORKOUT TOP FINISHERS – Points will be awarded to the top performers in each open workout division (rx’ed, scaled, foundations) weekly!
- 1st place in each division- 5 points
- 2nd place in each division – 3 points
- 3rd place in each division – 1 point
CHARITY DONATIONS – Teams will collect donations for Horizon House over the course of the Intramural Open. “Horizon House supports our neighbors experiencing homelessness with integrated, comprehensive services so they can secure and maintain housing.” Points will be awarded to the team with the most donations!! - Most donations collected – 10 points
- Donations collected from February 28th – March 22nd
WEEKLY VIDEO CHALLENGE – There will be [2] video challenges throughout the four week Open. Look for the challenges to be posted in the newsletter and on social media! To participate, film yourself completing the challenge, post to Instagram and tag @myriadfit. If you don’t have Instagram, email your video to info@myriadfit.com.
- Participate in the video challenge – 1 point
- Top performance in the challenge – 3 points
- Top creativity in challenge execution – 5 points
OTHER WAYS TO SCORE – Simply coming to class and logging your score is the easiest way to participate. Even if you are traveling, you have until the following Monday each week to complete the workout and log your score! So, you can head to another CrossFit gym and log your score on ChalkIt Pro, and still earn points, even if you aren’t in town!

- Submit your score to Chalk It Pro each week – 1 point
