A Note From Jared – NEW YEAR… NEW GOALS

A Note From Jared is a small monthly newsletter sent to the members of Myriad Fitness + Yoga. It is a way for Jared, the owner, to communicate directly to members. This was sent on 1/1/2026.

Happy New Year!
Today is New Year’s Day.

I hope you are relaxing, decompressing, and feeling excited for all the positive adventures 2026 will be bringing you.

Who am I kidding…

You are probably just trying to survive what feels like Day 1,289 of Winter Break.  Freezing temperatures, kiddos smacking and hitting each other, early morning wakeups, and the never ending cries of “I’m bored!”
(For those keeping track, it’s Day 13 of 17 of Winter Break)

So with that, I am hopeful you can find TEN minutes in the next few days to reflect on 2025 and create a tiny game plan for 2026.  I’m not even asking you write this down, I just want you to implant these thoughts into your head so they can start to marinate.

If I took over my life from scratch today, what would I immediately stop doing?

What would I start doing?

What do I want to spend MORE time on next year?

What do I want to spend LESS time on next year?

What can I do in the next week that will make the rest of the year easier?

Who do I spend time with that pulls me down?

Who do I spend time with that lifts me up?

What are my goals for 2026?

Do I have the right systems in place to make them happen? What needs to change?

In the spirit of making this fun, I am setting a 10 minute timer (right now) and will share my personal answers with you below in hopes that you are inspired to do the same. Join me.
3…2…1… GO!

If I took over my life from scratch today, what would I immediately stop doing?
JB: Social media. 100% answer.  I spend way too much time scrolling on Instagram when I first wake up and right before I go to bed.  I want to get off social media entirely, but I very much struggle with this owning a small business for 14+ years.

What would I start doing?
JB: I would use use all of that time to work on my mobility, read more, and be more present with my friends and family.

What do I want to spend MORE time on next year?
JB: I will “practice” more for golf.  I play a lot of golf, but I never really “practice” the individual aspects of the game; chipping, putting, sand shots, etc.
JB: I will run more and sign up for races in 2026.  I would like to run a 5k, 10k, and half-marathon in 2026.
JB: I will be fully present with the family when we are together as a family.  Mornings, evenings, and weekends are PLAY time with kids and wife.

What do I want to spend LESS time on next year?
JB: Instagram. Get rid of it? How?
JB: Relationships that feel one sided.  The other side doesn’t want to improve or work towards change.

What can I do in the next week that will make the rest of the year easier?
JB: Plan out the year with our 365 day calendar.  We did this last year for the first time and it was AWESOME to see everything in one place.
Examples:  Big A** CalendarAmazon Version (The one I use)

JB: Then dissect this yearly plan with a monthly habit tracker calendar.
I will do 3 running workouts per week.  I will do 45 minutes of Yoga per week.  I will do 15 minutes of mobility per day.  I will do 5 minutes of breathing/meditation per day. Etc…
Examples:  Lamare Habit Tracker Calendar

Who do I spend time with that pulls me down? (Name one to five individuals)
JB: I will keep this private.  I have my answers.
You have your answers!  Be honest with yourself.

Who do I spend time with that lifts me up? (Name one to five individuals)
JB: Caitlin, Marta, Richie, Riley, Eric G.

What are my goals for 2026?
See Below.  I use my Notes app to track my yearly goals so I can always go back and reference.

Do I have the right systems in place to make them happen? What needs to change?
Yes. I wrote them down.  I have my 365 day calendar. I have my monthly calendar. I am going to try to use a task management system called Todoist in 2026 to help with accountability.  If you couldn’t tell… I love setting goals.  I love thinking big.

The best part is looking back at this one year from now and reviewing what you DID and DID NOT accomplish.  Many of these won’t be accomplished, that’s ok.  Then I will reassess and set forth more goals.  Nothing is concrete… it is all fluid.

Need some guidance?  Reply to this email and let’s grab coffee to chat about your 2026 and beyond.

Nothing will be accomplished overnight.  It is all a process.
That process begins with you thinking about your future and I hope the above questions help.
