Meet Reece: Myriad’s Fall 2026 Exercise Science Intern from IU Indianapolis

“For Time” with Myriad – Episode #120

YouTube video

He graduated high school a semester early, spent four years working as an EMT, came into college thinking he wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon, and walked out of doggy daycare with a Belgian Malinois. Reece Davis is not your average intern.

Episode 120 of For Time introduces Reece Davis, Myriad’s Fall 2026 intern from IU Indianapolis, finishing up his final semester in the exercise science program. If you’ve been in class over the last few weeks and spotted someone quietly observing from the corner, that’s him. Say hi. He’s been told to talk to people and he’s actually good at it. 🙂

From the ER to the Gym Floor

Before Myriad, Reece spent four years working as an EMT: 911 calls, hospital shifts, and yes, some very good concert perks. But the longer he did it, the more he realized something important. He didn’t want to keep showing up after things went wrong. He wanted to be there before.

That proactive vs. reactive mindset is exactly what drew him to exercise science and personal training. Helping people fix muscular imbalances before they blow out a knee. Building habits before the back gives out. Getting ahead of the problem rather than treating it. It’s a philosophy that fits Myriad’s model almost perfectly, which is either a coincidence or a very good sign.

What He Thought CrossFit Was (And What He Found Instead)

Coming from a football background, Reece had a clear mental image of CrossFit: people kipping chaotically, bad form everywhere, all gas no brakes. He’d seen the memes. He had opinions.

Three weeks of observing classes at Myriad later, those opinions have been revised. What surprised him most wasn’t the intensity. It was the structure. The Level Method progression. The emphasis on form. The fact that every new member goes through Foundations before touching a barbell. He’d never seen a gym say, “Before you do anything, let us figure out where you’re at.”

He liked that. A lot.

What He’ll Be Working On

Reece is currently wrapping up his three-week observation period, watching CrossFit classes, personal training sessions, Coach Dan’s weightlifting program, and everything in between. Next up: he’ll start leading warm-ups, then specific skill or strength segments, and eventually full classes on his own.

One project on his radar is the HYROX YoungStars program. He’ll be helping market it and get more kids signed up. He’s newer to working with younger athletes, but his instinct that “kids who want to learn” are the best clients is already the right one.

The Bigger Picture

Reece is one of those people who’s ahead of where most people are at his age. Not because he has it all figured out, but because he’s honest about what he doesn’t know yet. He’s considering entrepreneurship. He’s not sure what form it takes. He’s here to learn the backend, the marketing, the relationship-building, and the mindset of running something people actually want to be part of.

He’s here until early December. If you’re a small business owner, a founder, or someone who’s been around the block, grab a coffee with him. He’s been encouraged to ask. He’ll take you up on it.

Welcome to the team, Reece. We’re glad you’re here. 🏋️
