Riley Johnston – Summer Intern

“For Time” with Myriad – Episode #77

Please welcome Riley Johnston to Myriad Fitness + Yoga.

Riley just finished up his junior year at Indiana University and will be serving as a summer intern for the next 10 weeks. During his time with us, Riley will learn how to coach group fitness classes while going through our rigorous Coach Development Program.

Over the next couple of weeks, you will see Riley observing classes, then eventually begin leading warmups. Ultimately, the goal will be for Riley to be coaching CrossFit classes on his own.

From an early age, Riley learned the importance of hard work from his Dad, Jim Johnston Jr., who was Coach Jared’s high school track coach at Merrillville High School back in 1999-2003. Since the day he could walk, Riley joined the family tradition of becoming a high level pole vaulter. Riley won the Indiana State Championship in 2019 and earned a scholarship to pole vault at Indiana University. Unfortunately, he suffered a severe injury during a meet and had to medically retire from pole vaulting after many attempts to get past those injuries. (ask Riley to show you the video of his accident… not for the feint of heart).

We are excited to have Riley join us this summer and we hope to have him back in the future. He’s already been a great addition to the team and we look forward to his continued development with Myriad Fitness + Yoga.
