Rowing at Eagle Creek

Member Jen Kaido, has graciously offered to take us out on the water at Eagle Creek Reservoir.  I think this would be a tremendous asset and great experience to apply what we have learned on the ergs (rowers) to the real thing.  We can only have 16 members join us so unfortunately this is going to be a first come, first serve, sort of thing.

The first 16 emails I receive ( confirming they want in will be the winners.

Details: Date: Saturday, August 4th Time: 1:00pm Where:  Eagle Creek Park Cost: $5 for Rowing + $5 for Park Entrance = $10

Please Email Coach Jared:

For those who don’t know Jen K. – Here’s her quick Bio.  Sorry Jen, but you are kind of a big deal 🙂 Jennifer Kaido (Interim Executive Director/sculling coach/coach of RowIndy Program within Indianapolis Public Schools) – Jennifer started with IRC in September of 2011.  She is a four time US National Rowing Team member, 2008 Olympian, and three time World Cup medalist.  She started rowing her senior year at Cornell University, fell in love with the sport and decided to continue rowing after graduation at Saugatuck Rowing Club in the OARS Program (Olympic Athletes Rowing at Saugatuck).  She learned how to row the single that year, and then moved to Princeton, NJ in the fall of 2004 to train under Tom Terhaar and the US Women’s National Rowing Team.  She made the 2005 US Team as a spare, made the 2006 Team as a member in the quad, was in the US double in 2007 and rowed the quad in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.  Jennifer is from West Leyden, NY, has two younger brothers, and supportive, hard working parents that she contributes her work ethic too.

  1. 10:27 43# and I clearly need work on my shoulder mobility! Thanks for the tips, Peter.
Jen! I knew you were a rower but dang! You’re awesome. Wish I could join you on the 5th. Great idea!

  2. 8:08 at a whopping 20#
I’m good with that…. but my goal is still to Rx these babies!
My ads are burning from the GDwhatevers 🙂
But….I did rock the rope 🙂

  3. 8:33 @ 45#…1st time doing overhead squats with anything other than PVC. Holy-uncomfortable movement…started to feel more comfortable as I progressed through the workout.

  4. 5:56 @ #55.
should have done waaay more weight, but doubted myself fresh off vacation. won’t make that mistake again!

  5. I finally did a rope climb!! (4 actually) I was so excited from the rope climb (and too confident) that I used too much weight (75#) for the WOD and did not complete the last set in the 12′ time cap 🙁 Oh well, at least I can say I finally did a rope climb!
I’m very excited for those that signed up to row on Aug. 4th! Getting out on the water is much more fun than sitting on the erg.
