“For Time” with Myriad – Episode #117
You’ve been showing up. You’ve been putting in the work. And you’re still not seeing the results you expected. Sound familiar?
There’s a good chance the missing piece isn’t your programming. It’s what’s happening in the kitchen.
Episode 117 of For Time with Myriad is the announcement we’ve been teasing for a few weeks.
Myriad Fitness is officially partnering with Amber Ray of AmberRdRx, a registered dietician in Indianapolis with over 20 years of experience, to bring a real nutrition program to our members.
Meet Amber Ray: Registered Dietician, Indianapolis
Amber is a licensed registered dietician in the state of Indiana who spent two decades in a hospital setting before launching her own private practice, AmberRdRx, two years ago. The reason she left the hospital system? Frustration with a model that sent patients out the door with a handout and a handshake, without the ongoing accountability and individualized support that actually moves the needle.
Her business name says it all: AmberRdRx; RD for registered dietician, RX as in prescription. Because Amber’s approach is food as medicine. Not a fad. Not a 30-day challenge. A real, sustainable philosophy built around fueling your body the right way.
Her Approach: Add Before You Subtract
If you’ve ever worked with a nutritionist who immediately handed you a list of everything you can’t eat, Amber is the opposite of that.
Her philosophy: meet you where you’re at, and add before you subtract. Instead of leading with restriction, she starts by looking at what your body actually needs more of. Are you fueling your training properly? Are your hormones in check? Is your gut health working for you or against you?
Amber specializes in functional nutrition which means she’s focused on root causes, not just symptom management. That includes:
- Blood sugar stability
- Gut health (including GI testing via MAPS)
- Hormonal balance: including perimenopause and menopause support
- Cardiovascular health
- Body composition and energy optimization
Macro tracking? Available if you want it. Not required if you don’t. She builds the plan around what’s actually going to work for you, not a generic template.
Who Is This Nutrition Program For?
Pretty much anyone who feels like something’s off. Specifically:
- Athletes who are putting in the work but plateauing on body composition or energy
- Women navigating perimenopause or menopause
- Anyone dealing with a chronic condition that nutrition could help address
- People who’ve had a frustrating experience with a dietician before and gave up on the idea
- Anyone who’s working out consistently and wondering why the results aren’t matching the effort
Her motto: progress over perfection. If that resonates, you’re probably the right client.
The Part That Might Surprise You: She Takes Insurance
Here’s the detail that made Jared stop mid-conversation to try to remember what insurance he has.
Amber is in-network with Anthem and UnitedHealthcare, two of the largest insurance networks in the country. No doctor’s referral required. This is a self-referral. And in most cases with a standard (non-high-deductible) plan… The sessions are fully covered.
You’re already paying the premium. This might be the time to actually use it.
How to Check Your Coverage
There are a few easy ways to verify whether your plan covers Amber’s services:
- Send Amber a photo of the front and back of your insurance card and she’ll look into it
- Search for her name in your insurance provider’s online directory
- Call your insurance company directly with her provider number and ask if she’s in-network
She’ll work with you to figure out what your plan covers before you commit to anything. In her two years of private practice, fully covered sessions have been the norm, not the exception.
