Five Reasons Why You are Entering the CrossFit Open

Five Reasons Why You are Entering the CrossFit Open

  1. 4-time “Fittest Man on Earth” Rich Froning is doing it.
In other words, you’ll be taking part in a massive event that’s bigger than just our box. More than 272,000 athletes from around the globe competed in 2015, ranging in age from 14 to 86 years old. Participants range from the best in the world, like Rich, to those who just rolled off the couch for the very first time.
  1. You’re going to be doing these workouts anyway.
One of the best things about CrossFit is that it’s scalable for anyone. At Naptown, we’ll be programming these workouts every week, and regardless of your skill or strength level, you’ll be doing them anyway. Afraid of snatches or double-unders popping up in an Open workout? No worries, you’re not alone. Just like in class, there is a scaled version of each movement.
  1. Give your training a purpose.
Sure, we all do CrossFit for… fitness. But the Open gives you something to train for. It provides you with the opportunity to focus a bit more and really push yourself to do your very best. A Harvard study found that those who have goals in mind (a purpose) are 10 times more successful than those who don’t. You will be surprised with what your mind and that amazing body of yours can accomplish!
  1. It’s all about the community!
“The magic is in the movement, the art is in the programming, the science is in the explanation, and the fun is in the community.”
I don’t know about you, but I KNOW I push myself harder when I’m surrounded by my buddies. It’s one of the reasons I’m always saying “Let’s do this, team!” during class. We are all in this together. Your success is my success and vice versa.
  1. It’s a celebration of your fitness.
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn
Everyone’s fitness level is different. Everyone is at different points in their journey. The Open is that time each year to revel in the strengths you’ve developed and discover areas where you need to work. It’s a time to be humbled (which I guarantee will happen), but it’s also a time to be proud of yourself (again, I guarantee will happen!).
