“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” – Rumi
Theme: Acknowledgement
Self-acknowledgement is challenging, even for the most practiced yogi. When we begin to murky up the waters of the Self, sometimes we don’t like what floats to the surface. Distractions, false representations, memories – all of this can cloud our view and keep us from seeing who we truly are at our core. We must first ackowledge both the dark and the light, so that we can be focused on WHO WE ARE.
Flow/Align Pose: Tadasana / Mountain Pose
is there any pose more foundational? We practice standing daily, but how often do we stand with purpose in acknowledgement of our bodies? Tadasana gives us the opportunity to get back to the basics, root down and center ourselves. Try closing the eyes, feeling your mind-body connection, and acknowledge WHO and HOW you are.
Restorative Pose: Salamba Sarvangasana / Supported Shoulder Stand
an inversion that feels natural to some and scary to others. Notice your initial reaction without judgement, and acknowledge that, we don’t all have the same practice. The opportunity to practice this pose with support and props is such a beautiful way to get comfortable with having your feet over your head; and if this is already in your practice, the addition of props will allow you to hold here much longer.
